They accept young people with a wide range of academic achievement, personal histories, levels of artistic training and leadership skills. The core program serves teenagers (13 to 19 years old) who are committed to personal and community change in a program of self-examination and training that culminates in the production of an original musical written and performed by youth Auditions for its 2008-09 program are on May 31st, June 6th and 27th at 5PM. Claude Moore Colonial Farm MCLEAN DOCENT Organization welcomes student volunteers. Long term projects and internships are available. Opportunities to work a few hours occasionally are also available. Through the Apprentice Program, youth volunteers aged 10 to 17 portray colonial children for the Farm's visitors, as well as doing such behind-the-scenes work as helping in the office, cleaning animal pens, and tending greenhouse crops.

Apprentices must attend an Orientation for the Apprentice Program and provide their own 18th century clothing in accordance with the Farm's clothing standards. Parents who complete 10 hours of volunteer work receive a $50 rebate off the $90 annual program fee. Apprentices are required to volunteer at least once per month from April through November. They may volunteer more often, and throughout the winter months, but it is not required.

The apprentice season runs year round, though new apprentices are recruited and trained only at the beginning of each year. The deadline has passed for the 2008 season.

Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind D.C. OUTDOORS Opportunities to serve as volunteer camp counselors for specific weeks in summer 2008 at Catholic University are Camp Lighhouse Day Camp: July 7-11, and Lighthouse Technology Camp: July 21-25. Counselors assist with activities including arts and crafts, technology, sports, swimming and field trips. Volunteers must attend orientation and training. Fairfax County Environmental Quality Advisory Council FAIRFAX RESEARCH Serve on the EQAC from July through the following June. Meetings are generally the second Wednesday of each month at 7:15pm. EQAC's chief function is to make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors for improving the County's efforts in environmental protection and enhancement.
