Clubs and Activities

The Foreign Language Department sponsors many language clubs and honor societies, in addition to other activities, which generally meet during the 8^th period. The purpose of these organizations is to promote the study of the language and appreciation of the culture. Some of the activities are: field trips, cultural experiences, foreign films, trips to local restaurants, and tutoring. During the 2007-2008 school year, foreign language teachers sponsor the following organizations:

Japanese National Honor Society

Latin Club, National Latin Honor Society, Certamen

Russian Club, Slava Honor Society

Spanish Club, National Spanish Honor Society

Foreign Travel and Exchanges

Several teachers organize educational trips to foreign countries during the Spring Break or summer. These trips are not sponsored by TJHSST or FCPS; but rather represent the individual teacher's passion to provide travel opportunities and authentic language learning experiences for their students.
