Other Psychology Resources
A set of links to sites offering various psychological services and information. There are a large number of different categories although each topic only has five to ten links. Most of the links are of fairly good quality with a few exceptional resources hidden further down. If you want to find out about something quickly, this is a good starting point for further research.
This is a very good site for finding out about mental disorders and treatment. There is an in-depth encyclopedia of about 50 disorders that contains, among other things, the DSM-IV and international diagnostic criteria, treatment options, and links to various online booklets and pamphlets that contain more information. This site also contains a number of diagnostic tests for various disorders that are of fairly high quality even though they are mostly useful for identifying the disorder from overt symptoms.
A set of links to psychology sites sorted by Dewey decimal categories. This is one subtopic of the main BUBL site. All of the links are to high quality sites although some are unresponsive at times. The categories are somewhat awkward due to begin fixed by the Dewey system but information is still relatively easy to find.
This is a site aimed at linking together psychology academic programs and research groups. The linked information isn't exceptional as it is aimed at communicating within a program rather than to others outside of it but the Directories that are pointed to are fairly good. The psychology search engine at this site is fairly powerful but doesn't have much of a knowledge base.
The focus of this site is to provide as large an index as possible of possible targets to start searching from. The categories are intuitive and well chosen to quickly narrow down information searches. There is no search routine for information at this site so it can be hard to find sites that qualify in more than one category. Many of the links are of high quality and have very fast connections.
This site aims itself as an up to date news provider for mental health issues but is more useful for general background on mental disorders and their treatment. The resources for professionals are also useful for research, particularly the diagnostic and therapy sections. The discussion groups are not as useful as they could be due to some problems with browser compatibility.
A student oriented site made by the American Psychological Association, this is most useful for finding out about college programs and college research programs around the country. A search routine to the entire site is provided to give easy access to other APA material.
Psych Crawler is a very powerful search engine for psychology sites run by the APA. Entries are screened to ensure quality so it is much easier to find useful sites rather than any site with the keyword that you are looking for. Not all sites are registered with Psych Crawler so it is still necessary to use a public search engine for some more obscure sources.
This is another large archive of information although many sites are hidden by many layers of poor categorizations. Almost everything is here but it can very difficult to find things. The section of links to psychology related journals is very extensive and can be a good way of finding current topics.
