INTRODUCTION

Perception is defined as the process of organizing, interpreting, and selectively extracting sensory information. On this web page, we will discuss the mechanisms that organize sensory information and address certain issues regarding these processes. For example, are many of these processes functioning at birth? In other words, are these processes innate? These questions can not be answered specifically without addressing the issue of the role of experience on these processes. Here, we define as well as discuss different aspects of perception and properties of these processes.
