Chapter 6: Learning

Learning is a relatively permanent change in behavior or knowledge that occurs as a result of experience. This page will involve three basic types of learning operations. Two of these learning operations are classical conditioning and instrumental learning. Both assume that associations form between two events when there is enough training. These perspectives are contrasted with the more mentalistic cognitive learning approach. Also discussed in this home page are aversive conditioning and the biological constraints on learning.
