History of Intelligence Testing (Page 1)

Many believe that intelligence is the human attribute most difficult to measure. Can you really test someone and say that that person is smarter than another person? What about the concept of multiple intelligences? These are some of the questions that arose when intelligence testing first began. Although the earliest assessments were in China at around 2200 BCE, the first actual intelligence test was created by a man named Alfred Binet in 1905. This test with later revisions became to be known as the Stanford-Binet intelligence tests. Binet believed that intelligence expressed itself through the judgemental, attentional and reasoning facilities of the individual. He therefore concentrated on finding tasks that related to these three facilities.
