The vestibular system, also called the equilibratory system, is responsible for providing a person with information regarding his or her position with relation to the ground and also allowing the person to stay balanced. Many people aren't even aware of the existence of this system. Without the vestibular system, a person would experience vertigo and have a hard time moving around. Some of the vestibular disorders you can have are Anterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery Syndrome, Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, bilateral vestibular loss, and cerebellar syndromes. All of these cause the person to lose balance. Though it isn't included in the five "common" senses, the vestibular system is very important to humans and other organisms.
