taste components
Taste sensation occurs (you guessed it) inside the mouth. The receptors that detect and respond to taste stimulation are called taste cells. These cells are grouped in clusters called taste buds. Taste buds can be found on the epithelium of the tongue, the soft palate, the larynx, the pharynx, and the epiglottis. On the tongue, taste buds are found on small, knob-like projections called papillae. Each one of the 2000-5000 taste buds in a person's mouth holds roughly 20 taste cells.
